Daajing Giids sits at the south end of Graham Island, on Skidegate Inlet — the practical hub of the islands, and a short drive from the ferry. The motel puts you right in the middle of it.
Where you are
Haida Gwaii is an archipelago off the north coast of BC — wild, green and weather-worn, with big beaches, old forest and some of the finest fishing anywhere. Daajing Giids (formerly Queen Charlotte) is its practical centre: shops, food, fuel and the marina, all within walking distance of the motel.
Stay here and you are well placed for everything — a day on the water, a hike into the hills, a run up to the north-island beaches, or the start of a trip into Gwaii Haanas to the south.

A beach across the street and the centre of Daajing Giids within a short, flat walk — the co-op, the coffee shops, the marina, the pharmacy and the village restaurants.
Some of the best saltwater and freshwater fishing in BC — trophy salmon, halibut and lingcod offshore, with local guides available, and steelhead and trout in the island rivers and lakes.
Hike Sleeping Beauty Mountain or the Dover Trail through old-growth cedar, walk the long sand of North Beach, or go crabbing when the tide is right.
Daajing Giids is a natural staging point for trips into Gwaii Haanas National Park Reserve to the south — sort your gear, rest up, and set off from town.
The Haida Heritage Centre at Ḵay Llnagaay in nearby Skidegate is a well-known place to learn about the culture and history of Haida Gwaii — please visit it directly and follow its own guidance.
Getting here
However you arrive on the islands, the motel is easy to reach and central once you are here. Confirm current ferry and flight schedules before you travel — they change with the season.
The BC Ferries terminal at Skidegate — for the mainland at Prince Rupert, and the local run to Alliford Bay — is a short drive up the road from the motel.
Sandspit Airport (YZP) connects to Vancouver; from Sandspit it is a short local ferry hop and drive across to Daajing Giids. Masset Airport serves the north of Graham Island.
Everything central is walkable from the motel. For trips further out on the islands, a rental vehicle or a local shuttle is the usual way to get around.
Central, comfortable and on the water — book a room and settle in for the islands.
